Our Mission
The mission of CMA is to provide students with opportunities to acquire an education based on the teaching philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. The Montessori method emphasizes independent learning through a hands-on approach using materials that foster a holistic education. It encourages long-term educational relationships and character development through a mixed-aged classroom. Our school will actively work toward providing a culturally and ethnically diverse group of students.
Our goal is to educate children to become active and mindful citizens with the skills and knowledge to participate, meaningfully, in this diverse and challenging new century. We believe that schools should provide creative and structured tools to support children to become active learners. Our task is to provide an atmosphere of acceptance, respect, and trust so that creativity and a sense of civic responsibility can thrive. We also believe that schools are places to teach children how to be better members of their communities.
The Montessori method teaches children how to develop their potential to step out into the world as engaged, competent, responsible, and respectful citizens; citizens that will carry throughout life an understanding and appreciation for learning. Montessori students become confident, enthusiastic, and self-directed learners. They are able to think critically, work collaboratively, and act boldly – skills that are essential for the 21st century.
